Officer Kendig visits

For our 3rd grade unit on government I invited a very special guest speaker to come and talk to the kids about our local branch of government. Officer Eric Kendig!!! The kids were super excited to have him visit and he did a really great job explaining local government to a room full of 3rd graders. The kids favorite part was when Officer Kendig put me in handcuffs and left me in them the whole time he talked.

Listening intently

Haha Mrs. Embrey is in handcuffs

We even got to see his car

Spiderman meets Princess

It kind of looks like she is sticking her finger in the socket but it is covered I promise!!

Ava is in love with Spiderman these days. I don't know how it started but she is completely obsessed. She still loves her Princesses but now Spiderman is on the top too. She even sits and watches the Spiderman movies. She goes around shooting webs on everything and even talks to Spiderman. Apparently he comes in her room at night and they talk and he sleeps in her bed. She has a very vivid imagination these days. She was also attacked by a purple bear who ate her birthday cake on the playground last week. She has a lot of stories. I thought this outfit was funny. Spiderman shirt with Princess shoes. Saturday we got Spiderman shoes so we don't have to mix the two anymore. She informed me that the Princess shoes did not match her Spiderman shirt and she needed Spiderman shoes. So we got her some new shoes to wear. I am hoping that by the time her birthday rolls around we will be back to Princesses. Right now all she talks about it having a Spiderman birthday cake. I just don't know if I can do the Spiderman thing for her birthday. I was really looking forward to having a Princess Party, but may be out ruled!!

BabyLand General

We promised Ava if she pooped in the potty for a whole week we would take her to BabyLand and let her pick out a baby. So she had a great week using the potty so on Sunday we drove 2 hours to Cleveland, Georgia to visit BabyLand. Geech just couldn't miss a trip to BabyLand so her and Uncle Grant came along for the trip. BabyLand has a new location since we were kids but the inside is pretty much the same.

Look at all those babies up for adoption

Waiting at Mother Cabbage for her next delivery ( the baby that was born was a girl and she was named Audrey Lea)

Ava got to pick out any doll she wanted and she chose this little Cabbage Patch who looks like Snow White

Pushing Snow White around

It was a really fun trip and Ava is loving her Snow White baby. I wish it were closer so we could visit more often. Geech and I loved going when we were little girls and I think Ava will love going back again!!

We made it!!

We started our day off by leaving the house at 5 am because we had to be at the hospital for Ava's eye surgery at 6:15 am. Seeing how this child will sleep until lunch that was not an easy task. She did wake up cranky and really did not want to go to the doctor. But as her entourage( Ping, Meme, Grandpa, Nana, and Geech) arrived she was a little more willing to go. I did not take my camera back as we got her ready for the surgery but she did pretty good putting on her hospital gown and her hospital cap. She was really scared but thanks to the great nurses and her best friend Baby Bear she went back with them with no crying or fighting. She was the first surgery of the day so it did not take very long for the doctor to come out and give us an update. He said that he was able to drain her bump and unblock both her tear ducts. There was definite blockage and he said it was a good thing we were correcting the problem. Chris and I were both with her when she woke up and she was fussy and disoriented but for the most part did pretty well. They didn't keep us very long after and let us go as soon as we got her dressed. They said with children the best thing for them is to get them out as soon as possible.

On the way home
Last night and today have been pretty rough. Ava's eyes are fine but the anesthesia has made her so cranky and whiny. She just cries and whines about everything. Her eyes don't seem to be bothering her but this bad mood has been rough. Hopefully by tomorrow it will be out of her system and she will be back to normal. Thanks for all the prayers and calls!!

I'm Special

My diploma came in the mail and I am so darn proud of this degree!!! I worked my tail off and I am very happy to have this piece of paper hanging on my "Wall of Fame"!!! It was truely a struggle being a mom, working full time, and going back to school. I am so glad to be done and hopefully this degree will be it!!

Twins!!!

Last Friday Chelsey came to visit with the twins Chance and Lauryn. Ava loves looking at their pictures and talking about them but I wasn't really sure how she would do with them in person. Since Chelsey lives in Ohio this was the first time we had actually seen them. Ava wasted no time wanting to hold them. She hopped right up on the sofa and wanted to hold them. She wanted to hold them both at the same time but we convinced her to hold them one at a time.

Even Chris held Chance. I think this is a cute picture of them spending some man time together!!

AVa and Chance

It was pretty sweet watching Ava with the babies. She would hold their heads and just rub their little arms. She actually did a lot better with them than I expected. And no just because she liked the babies doesn't mean we will be getting one for her. Sorry Nana but we are done!! I'm sure she can wait for Uncle Eric or Geech to have a baby!!

Terrible Twos

I can't even remember why she was screaming like this, but you would have thought something was seriously wrong. It was just chocolate pudding.

Literally 2 seconds later

Oh yeah no worries here

We are experiencing some serious mood swings over here at The Embrey House. Picture #1= the reason we will have no more children!!
