Playing in the Rain

Friday we were sitting out in the back yard like we have been doing since we have had all this nice weather and Daddy let Ava play in the "rain". At first she was a little scared but once we lowered the water she l-o-v-e-d it. It kept her attention for over an hour. If you know Ava's attention span then you know that is amazing!! She would run back and forth over the water and then run back to us. It was so funny and she had a blast. She loves water anyways so this was right up her alley. It looks like we are going to have to keep this up all summer. Chris took a ton of great pictures. Some are the best pictures we have of her. The light was great and they turned out so cool.

Easter 2010

Here are a few of the 100s of pictures we took over Easter weekend. Sorry I didn't put them in the right order. We started the weekend out at Meme and Ping's for the annual Eggstravaganza. We dyed eggs, hunted eggs, and ate some terrific Easter food. Then on Sunday we went to church and then headed over to Uncle Barry and Aunt Cheryl's for Easter lunch. Ava got to hunt eggs with Hannah and James so she was very excited about that.

Reunited

Ava finally got to see her Uncle Eric last weekend when he stopped by Gant's and Geech's House. He is doing really well and is getting better everyday.

5K for Atlanta Food Bank

Sunday I was peer pressured into doing a k5. My plan was to train for it and really be ready. Well with school, work, Ava, and Eric getting sick my training pretty much went down the tube. I think I ran twice on the treadmill in the 6 weeks leading up to the race. That being said I was really nervous and dreading the run. I really wanted to back out but decided I would try my best to run. I wasn't sure how I would do since I gave platelets the day before, but I made it through the whole race. It was freezing cold but I finished in 37:12. The best I had ever done on my treadmill was 42 minutes so I was really excited. Thank goodness for my Assistant Principal Denise. She was my running buddy through the whole race and we really kept each other going. I am doing another race in May for sure so hopefully if I can practice a little more I will be able to run the entire thing without walking. We will see.

Eric and platelets

Just wanted to update everyone on Eric. He is doing awesome!! All the treatments are working great and he is well on his way to recovery. If you want to keep up with him daily check out his website http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/erickendig. Today Lindsey and I donated platelets at Northside to go to Eric. Pretty cool knowing that he will be getting our platelets. The process takes about 2 hours, but overall isn't too bad and you get a pretty cool tshirt.

Prayer Request

This picture was Saturday night which was when his nose started bleeding

Eric went to the doctor Tuesday with a nosebleed only to find out he has Acute Myelogenous Leukemia. He was admitted Tueday night to Northside Hospital and will be there for the next 30 days or so. They have narrowed his AML down to a spefic type callled APL (Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia). He has started taking a drug for the next few days for this type of leukemia that acts fast to fight it and will start chemo in the next few days. He will be in the hospital for the next 30 days, then will get to go home for a few weeks, then will come back for another round of chemo. After that his doctors feel confident that he will be all better. So basically treatment for the next 60 days and then road to a full recovery. The doctor said that of all the types of leukemia this is the best one to have because the cure rate is really high. It will be a long few months but I know that God has a plan for Eric and will heal him. Eric's parents who live in Hong Kong flew in today so they are with him now. Chris and I will be back and forth to the hospital a lot I guess. I have been off the last 2 days so I could see him and will go back this weekend. We are just asking for prayers now.

Also Eric will be in need of platelets and we are asking all friends to donate platelets at the Northside Hospital donor center. His doctor said that even if Eric doesn't get them the supply is really low so someone who needs them will get them.

Snow at School!!

Here are a few pictures of my class on Wednesday when it snowed. You would have thought they had never seen snow, when they had seen 4 inches the week before. But we went out and ran in it and acted crazy. They loved it and so did I. Too bad it didn't last or stick, but we had fun anyways!!

Krispy Kreme!!!!

Last Saturday my Georgia State Graduate class had a field trip to the zoo to observe and research the animals playing. Luckily families were invited so since the weather was so nice I took Ava. It was her second trip to the zoo, but she enjoyed it so much more than the first time we went. Her favorite animals (Pandas) were out and moving around like crazy so that was awesome for her to see. Sorry I didn't take any pictures because I didn't have my good camera. After our morning at the zoo since we were downtown we headed over to the Spaghetti Factory for lunch. After my spectacular navigational skills to find it we got there parked and went to eat only to find it was closed. Apparently it shut down a few weeks before. So sad I always loved going there. But since we were on Ponce we couldn't pass up the chance to stop by for hot Krispy Kremes. Every time Christina and I are within the perimeter we find our way to hot donuts!! This was Ava's first trip and she loved the donuts. She ate 1 there and then a few more when we got home. Here are a few pics from our adventure!!

**SNOW 2010***

WE got some cute pictures, but Ava really did not like the snow. She would not touch it but did start running in it after about 10 minutes of being out there. She liked looking out the window at it but not so crazy about playing in it. She did enjoy the day off from school. She slept until 2:15 in the afternoon. She was so tired all week so I guess she really needed to catch up on her rest.
