For our 6 year anniversary Chris planned a special trip downtown. We stayed at the Ritz Carlton for the weekend and went to a music festival. It was a nice weekend away and I got some pretty awesome presents.
Ava's dance camp ended with a recital. She was very excited about the recital or so I thought. Until it came showtime. Apparently she has stage fright. All the other girls had great fun dancing and showing what they learned all week but Ava just stood there. She didn't cry, but she didn't dance. Since she is taking dance in the fall I am hoping that when it comes time for the big recital she will want to perform, but I guess we will see. Oh well at least she looked cute!!
Our summer was filled with a lot of mini field trips. I tried to plan at least one outing every day so we had something to look forward to and a reason to get up and get moving everyday. One of Ava's favorite things to do was go get a snack. So after much anticipation about talking about Dilly Bars ( mainly because she had a fake food set that was Dairy Queen ice cream) we had our snack at Dairy Queen. This Dilly Bar definitely did not disappoint!!
Today was Ava's first day of a week long dance camp. We are going to start her in ballet in the fall but to make sure dance is something she likes she is testing out dance this week at camp. So far she loves it. She really loves the ballet shoes, she hasn't taken them off since we got them except to swim.
This weekend was Uncle Mike's birthday. We celebrated at the pool and Ava regained her swimming skills. We were a little worried because the first few time we went to the pool she would not leave the steps. However this weekend she left the steps and never looked back. She is swimming like a fish and jumping of the diving board like she was born to swim. After she regained her confidence we couldn't keep her on the steps!!
We are trying to do something fun at least once a week during the summer. Since we bought season passes to the zoo this is our go to day trip. We left early with Ms. Jennifer, Ariana, and Aiden and Ms. Natasha and Mariah for a day at the zoo followed by a picnic. The kids all get along so well together that is makes our trips so much fun for them and easier for us to manage them. It was a hot day but we had a ton of fun.
We kicked off summer break with a trip to the zoo. It was so hot, but the kids had a blast. It is so much fun having friends with kids Ava's age to keep her entertained.
Aiden is telling something really interesting about the meer cats.
These two loved the stroller
Aiden, Ariana, Laila, Mariah, and Ava in the bird's nest
Since Geech and Ping had to work all summer and did not get to enjoy all our field trips we had to meet them for lunch one day. We ate at Ping's favorite place the Varsity. Ava's favorite part: Meme's Frosted Orange!!
